What is the key cause for people to get addicted to pornography? Is it loneliness, or the want to be loved with passion? Does it begin with exploring, is it lust or is it the whetstone for a warped mind? Well different people have different views about watching too much of porn and strangely pornography is the largest on-line business with the most number of Internet searches going out to the porn industry. Some people just think its time to pass, while on the other hand it is fun and exciting for some. And then there are those, who look for every opportunity to watch porn, whether in secrecy or in a blatantly unreserved manner. Pornographic addiction can also be because of too much sex activities in ones life or the total lack of it. Pornography addiction is just like somebody craving to have a cigarette. Some people watch porn simply for the sake of watching; others do it to excite themselves. There are people addicted to pornography because they want to imitate every act in their own sexual lives and there are even those who do it because of depression. Most of the people might not even know if they are addicted to it or not, because watching too much of porn becomes their habit and they feel as if their life revolves around it. However, such people do not realize that it can also become dangerous for them in a way. They might not realize that having such a kind of addiction can have negative consequences in their lives. They might just start to neglect their responsibilities towards their work, or might also land up in embarrassing situations at work or a college campus. Pornography can also cause problems in relationships such as creating an emotional distance with the one you love. People may also lose a relationship due to this. But have you ever wondered is there a cure for it? Can people actually get out of this addiction or not? Yes there is a way of overcoming pornography addiction. People with low self esteem often feel completely alone when it comes to finding a solution to their problem. Without a proper direction finder, they may turn their strength over to one person after another and never really find anyone who can help them. Feeling alone is likely to be one of the most central issues facing people with low self esteem and this is what puts them at a disadvantage. In order to truly be able to find the right direction in life and to choose the people who will treat us with the respect we deserve, we must first be capable of facing our innermost fears. This fear, of being alone, is the primary fear that must be faced by people with low self esteem. In order to be able to stand up for yourself, you must be able to walk away from an unhealthy relationship. Whether you actually choose to leave the relationship or not is incidental. The important thing is that you must at least feel that you are capable of leaving. Many people with low self esteem don’t truly know if they are capable of leaving an unhealthy relationship and this is something that the other people in their lives can often sense regardless of the good intentions that they may possess. Because of this critical issue facing people with low self esteem, there are several techniques and practices that can be accomplished as a start which can help to lead to a greater sense of self esteem. The first of these is to practice being alone. For many people, this prospect is terrifying. The fear follows them around everywhere they go, from the minute they wake up in the morning to the final second before they fall asleep. “I can’t be alone” is the common phrase you will hear and it isn’t just a casual joke. Fear of being alone is something that deeply affects every aspect of your life if you have not faced up to it. The surprising thing is, the fear is entirely imaginary as many people discover when they finally raise their courage to try and face it. Similar to the way a person may enjoy their first airplane ride, they don’t get up in the air without first being extremely scared and wanting to get off the plane altogether. Then as the plane takes off, they imagine they are going to crash and see horrible images of explosions and screaming amongst the passengers. All of this turns out to be completely imaginary, however, as they quickly realize once the plane has reached its highest altitude and levels off. Flying is really fun! What was I so scared of? This experience is very similar for people who are afraid to be alone. When you first decide to set aside some time each day to be alone, you will likely feel your stomach turn and you will acquire a very large lump in your throat. Imagining false scenarios such as the fact that “Nobody loves me” or “I might die if I am alone” will all come to your mind as you begin to take the prospect more seriously. It helps to determine a set amount of time up front that you will dedicate to being alone. It may only be 30 minutes a day but you can rest assured that you will accomplish it each day and find that you didn’t die or get left without a friend when your time is over. Eventually, you may increase the time to one hour a day or more and start to find that this time becomes a wonderful thing where you can enjoy a good book or just a relaxing walk around a lake. Being alone is one of the greatest things available to us because it gives us time to sort out our thoughts and decide what we really want out of life. We no longer have to be at the mercy of so many people who don’t really have our best interests at heart, regardless of their intentions. People all face issues of their own and each of us could do quite well to look inside ourselves and find the strength to overcome some of our most ridiculous fears. This is what will improve our self esteem and lead us into a happier and healthier life in the future.
Clutter Cleaner 3
It is much easier to do additional work when there is nothing in the way. I am actually going to refinish my hardwood floors once I get the clutter out of my room. That is giving me a great urge to get finished because I know how good they will look. I think I will even paint the room, but I don’t think I can do all of it in one day, but the clutter I CAN handle in one day. That is very important as we clean clutter to be able to change our thinking while we change our actions. Looking forward to an organized room as you expend your energy and channel your efforts in the cleaning process is a perfect motivator. While we start to change our thinking, we need to be mindful to the fact that we should open and then trash junk mail as soon as we receive it. We should read our magazines the day we get them or at least by the next day. We should recycle our magazines to neighbors or doctors offices but we need to learn to get rid of them within 2 days of receiving them. Once we have painted the room, added new shelves or curtains, and then replaced the important things that we kept back into our room, we need to be mindful of keeping free of clutter. There are some very good rules to follow to make sure that we won’t end up with a cluttered room again. We need to put things back where they belong instead of laying them down in a haphazard way or helter-skelter. You know we all were told growing up, ”that there is place for everything and everything in its place”, and that is certainly true now that we have organized everything. Resist temptations when you are shopping and never buy duplicates, never buy on the spur of the moment, and don’t buy one thing unless you get rid of one thing beforehand. That would mean that you need to get rid of something by giving it away or donating it BEFORE you purchase anything new. That is usually the beginning of hording or collecting junk. Continue to be diligent with your organization by only touching a piece of mail once. If it is trash, throw it our but if it is important, then file it. There are nice filing cabinets that are essential to maintaining order for paperwork. If you have trouble keeping addresses, invest in a rolodex to keep important numbers in and you can add or subtract names with ease. Now that you know how to go about being a clutter cleaner, you will be so proud of yourself. It is a great feeling to be successful with a chore well done. It is so empowering to have your stuff organized and live clutter free. Enjoy the new freedom that having your home back in the condition that will make you proud if a neighbor shows up unexpectedly and enjoy being able to sit in your favorite chair and read or watch television knowing that YOU DID IT!
Types Of Depression
As any doctor or mental health specialist will tell you there are different types of depression. Each of these depression types will manifest themselves in the person in completely different forms. Currently there are some well documented types of depression that various people in the world are afflicted with. Also each of the depression disorders can have similar and different symptoms. Since each of the depression types vary the severity of their symptoms and the level of persistence can be different for each sufferer. The main types of depression are Major or Unipolar Depression, Chronic or Dysthymia depression, and Manic or Bipolar Depression. Besides the main depression types there are subdivisions of these disorders. As the different types of depression have a completely different effect on each person, the method of treatment must also be individualized. With Major depression the symptoms are the same as depression, they are however more intense than normal depression symptoms. These symptoms will interfere with the daily activities of the individual. The work, study, eating and sleep patterns can become disturbed. The person will not be able derive any pleasure from their earlier activities. The depressive attacks of Major depression can be debilitating and the quality of life becomes noticeably poorer. In Major depression the episodes can be either single occurring or recurring. A single occurring episode will vanish after the treatment has taken effect. For a recurring Major depression there will be a phase of Major depression followed by depression. These bouts of depression are followed by perhaps several years of normal depression free life. The attacks can then occur without any warning. Chronic depression is less severe than either Major depression or Bipolar depression. The symptoms are life long. A person who has Chronic depression can still carry out their lives without any interference from the symptoms. There is a strong possibility of double depression occurring to the individual. Double depression is a mixture of Chronic depression and Major depression. Bipolar depression is not as common as the other types of depression. The mood swings of this depression are cyclic. That is there are periods of euphoric highs and sad, worthless lows. There are times when the mood changes can be very rapid and dramatic. The symptoms of Bipolar depression include being overactive, having lots of boundless energy, loss of good judgment, feeling invincible amongst others. All of the depression types have different ways of reacting with different individuals. Each of these depression symptoms need to receive the right sort of treatment. Therefore you should consult a doctor to have your depression diagnosed and treatment begun.
Stand Tall Like The Sunflower
I find it humorous sometimes that even the most mundane occurrences can have an impact on our awareness. My wife, daughter, and I moved into our home nine years ago and we spent a lot of time and energy in the yard to get it looking like it does today. We live on a corner, higher than street level, and the entire side of the yard in encased by a professionally built rock wall. The front of the house though is another story because instead of a wall along the sidewalk the rocks appear to be just thrown up onto the dirt as if someone were in a hurry to finish. We did the best we could with what we had to work with and called this area our ‘rock garden’. Whenever we had left over flowers or plants, Denise or I would stick them out front, just to bring some color to the area. I still do all of my own yard work, even the dreaded weed-pulling. After putting on my knee pads I assume the position to clear the yard of weeds, even in the rock garden. Last summer I had reached the end of the rock garden and found a tiny little plant that I could not immediately identify. I knew I didn’t plant it and Denise claimed that she didn’t either. We decided to let it continue growing until we could figure out what it was. Weeks passed and as I made my way back to the mystery plant, it appeared to be a Sunflower. It was spindly looking with a tall skinny stalk and only one head on it. I decided to baby it along and weed around it. As I pulled rocks from the area to get to the weeds, I noticed something unusual. The Sunflower had not started where I saw the stalk begin. It actually had begun under a big rock and grown under and around it to reach the sun. That’s when I realized that if a tiny little Sunflower didn’t let a big rock stand it its way of developing, we too have the capability of doing the same thing. Once our environment begins to see that we believe in ourselves like that little Sunflower, we can attain the same nourishment and nurturing as well. First, we need to believe in ourselves knowing we have the capabilities in achieving our desires. Like the Sunflower, it knew it had the capability to overcome its obstacle because it trusted in the Universal Truth and had faith it would succeed. Stand tall like the Sunflower and be proud of who and what you are and the environment will begin to support you. You will find a way to go under or around your big obstacle in order to reach your desires. © Tony Masiello 2006
