Anxiety Symptoms: What Anxiety Is And What Its Symptoms Are

First of all, before we start to describe what the symptoms of anxiety are, let’s first establish what anxiety is and its purpose. Anxiety is a survival mechanism. It exists to remove any perceived danger from our environment by either fighting it or running away from it. A few thousand years ago, when man was a hunter-gatherer searching for food in the great outdoors, anxiety played a very important role in preventing our ancestor from becoming some animal’s next meal. If and when confronted by some ferocious beast, anxiety would come into play and give our great, great, great etc. grandparent the wherewithal to either stand and fight the threat or to run away to some safe haven. In order for this fight or flight mechanism to be effective, certain physiological and psychological changes are temporarily made. These are as follows: 1. Body hair stands on end to give an overall appearance of being bigger. 2. Sweating starts to occur in the hands and feet to enable a better grip whilst running and/or climbing. 3. Adrenalin is released into the bloodstream to give an all-important boost of energy. 4. The body’s normal functions of digestion and cell repair are put on hold and the resources are re-directed to the muscles to enhance strength. 5. Under extreme conditions, the body will excrete in order to reduce weight. 6. Normal breathing is replaced by much shallower breathing and the heart rate increases. 7. Both sight and hearing are heightened. 8. Psychologically, there will be a feeling of discomfort and agitation. This will increase as necessary in order to initialise some sort of action. So, looking at the above example of our stone-age hunter, we can clearly see that anxiety was indeed a very necessary part of their day-to-day life and no doubt it was instrumental in saving quite a few lives at that stage in our evolution. But, how on earth can such a mechanism be useful to us in our current society? In certain situations, such as when the job that you’re working on is quickly running out of time, anxiety will help you to focus better by increasing your sight and hearing perceptions and the adrenalin will give you more energy to complete the task. I seriously doubt, though, that such a low level of anxiety would cause involuntary excretion. However, there are other situations where anxiety rears its head and it isn’t appropriate. Imagine that you’re late for work and that you’re stuck in traffic. No matter how anxious you feel the traffic won’t flow any quicker and as for running away from or fighting the perceived threat that would be impossible. It’s situations similar to the latter that can bring about anxiety disorders in certain individuals. I know, I used to suffer from an anxiety disorder along with panic disorder and agoraphobia for many years. Until, after many years of searching, I found the cure.

Be Happier In A Month

Sometimes very simple techniques are the most powerful. Each morning the minute you wake, write down three things in this day you have to look forward to. If you are having difficulty doing this, look for very simple pleasures, like: having a cup of coffee or tea, playing with your pet, experiencing a sunny day, reading, or talking to a friend. Each evening at the end of your day, write down three things that were good today. They might be things you are grateful for, like your health, a friend, or a meal. Or you might think of highlights in your day. Perhaps something lucky happened or you received a compliment. These techniques may seem too simple to work, but they are actually perfect for helping you change your focus. While you are thinking of good things in your life, it crowds out the thoughts that are making you depressed. And by choosing things to look forward to in this day, you notice and appreciate them much better when they come. Happiness does not lie in circumstances as much as it does in our thoughts. There are wealthy people who are terribly depressed, and poor people who are happy. There are some who feel lonely even though they are surrounded by loving family, and others who live alone who feel blessed by the love in their lives. Some people have lost so much in their lives, and yet live each day overflowing with joy, because they focus not on what they have lost or don’t have, but rather on what they do have. It won’t take long for you to see that these two simple techniques improve your moods and happiness the more you practice them. If you like them, start adding new moments to your day. You could for example, think of three reasons to feel good about yourself each day, or each day answer how you know you are loved.

The River Of Affluence

“The real ‘haves’ are they who can acquire freedom, self-confidence, and even riches without depriving others of them. They acquire all of these by developing and applying their potentialities. On the other hand, the real ‘have nots’ are they who cannot have aught except by depriving others of it. They can feel free only by diminishing the freedom of others, self-confident by spreading fear and dependence among others, and rich by making others poor.” – Eric Hoffer How does it strike you when I say, ‘I love money’? I love wealth and affluence and abundance. What do you think when you read that? Some people say, ‘Well, duh. Everyone loves money.’ There are others who will feel uncomfortable with an unfettered love of affluence. There’s a Bible passage that says, ‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” (Matthew 19:24) And perhaps you grew up with the idea that loving money and wealth is greedy. Not feeling worthy, issues of deserveability plague many people and our relationships to money can be very complicated, as can our desire to accumulate wealth. For the most part, our culture, especially compared to some horribly impoverished nations, is a very rich one. And our position of relative affluence can inspire feelings of crippling guilt in contrast. It’s complex. By immersing ourselves in the flow of an affluent mindset, we create and attract more to us. To create more, to expand our universes, we create a vacuum in our lives in relation to affluence so that the universe will respond by giving us more of what we are asking. Here’s the deal with money: Money is its own energy and it’s a very specific, precise energy and you have to learn to get into the flow of money or else it will control you. I work all the time to stay in alignment with that and to make it even more prevalent in my life. You need to be realistic. Your goals can’t be outlandish. An example of outlandish: ‘I’m going to make a million dollars this year’ when you’ve never even made $100,000 before. If your goal is ‘undoable’ in your subconscious mind, you’ll sabotage yourself from the get go. But you can increase your expectations as time goes on. This will get you into the flow of affluence. Money is like an ocean. . . there is so much more of it that you can or should ever take for just yourself. There is plenty to go around. Like the water in the ocean, the only shortage is in your ability to carry it home. And even that’s not a shortage, you just need to learn how to do it. All you have to do is create a specific strategy to extract what you want. And you can grow or diminish it at will. But if you don’t do it at will, it’s going to do it to you. It’s going to tell you how much you can have and how much you need and what you can do. It’s going to be in control of you all of the time. We simply need to understand that we’re in control, that we can manifest whatever it is we want at will. It’s that simple, while at the same time, profound. Change your attitude about money, and it’s flow, and watch as you accumulate more of what you want.

Spirituality – Inspirational Stories ( Part 69 )

For those who believe in God there is another way, which is much less difficult. They give up the fruits of work unto the Lord; they work and are never attached to the results. Whatever they see, feel, hear, or do, is for Him. For whatever good work we may do, let us not claim any praise or benefit. It is the Lord’s; give up the fruits unto Him. Let us stand aside and think that we are only servants obeying the Lord, our Master, and that every impulse for action comes from Him every moment. Whatever thou worshippest, whatever thou perceivest, whatever thou doest, give up all unto Him and be at rest. Let us be at peace, perfect peace, with ourselves, and give up our whole body and mind and everything as an eternal sacrifice unto the Lord. Instead of the sacrifice of pouring oblations into the fire, perform this one great sacrifice day and night — the sacrifice of your little self. “In search of wealth in this world, Thou art the only wealth I have found; I sacrifice myself unto Thee. In search of some one to be loved,Thou art the only one beloved I have found; I sacrifice myself unto Thee.” Let us repeat this day and night, and say, “Nothing for me; no matter whether the thing is good, bad, or indifferent; I do not care for it; I sacrifice all unto Thee.” Day and night let us renounce our seeming self until it becomes a habit with us to do so,until it gets into the blood, the nerves, and the brain, and the whole body is every moment obedient to this idea of self – renunciation. Go then into the midst of the battlefield, with the roaring cannon and the din of war, and you will find yourself to be free and at peace.
